Much like real leather and many other high-end materials that we’re accustomed to trusting, teak wood comes in different grades. At Casateak Furniture, we only use the highest grade of 100% pure teak wood. No mixed-in low-grade wood or sapwood here! We carefully select the finest straight-grain pieces to use in our furniture. You will notice that all of our teak furniture has these characteristics: a straight grain pattern, varying tones after finishing, and no knots or cracks.
Kiln-Drying Process Before Production.
Basically, drying wood refers to the process of eliminating moisture from wood. This process is very important for us, because moisture contained in wood is what causes shrinkage and expansion of the end product during different seasons. Our kiln drying process takes roughly 2 weeks to dry the moisture content to around 10%. With an additional 5-6 weeks of a resting period to let the wood rehydrate back to normal. All these processes help the wood soak up all the moisture evenly. Which ensures that our products have dimensional stability and will not bend, crack, etc. during or after production.
